Most cafes employ people to make food, we make food to employ people.

Lagoon Creek Café & Function Room is making a difference in the community in so many ways. But it’s you we need to thank, because we can’t do any of this without your support!

Pathways To Employment

Lagoon Creek Cafe is part of the Caboolture Community Work Cooperative (the Co-op). The Co-op established by local people for local people in response the expressed and self-determined interest of individuals with disability who live in the Caboolture area who had mixed experiences with work and with trying to find work. Find out more about The Co-op.

Our Café Worker Family

Each day, Lagoon Creek Café provides a welcoming, secure and patient workplace for people who have previously faced barriers to meaningful employment. With the support of professional hospitality staff, our staff members receive the training and support they need to contribute in a meaningful way to the café, function room and catering business. Environmentally Aware

We constantly aspire to be more environmentally aware and teach the understanding for caring for the environment as part of our capacity building.

Here are just a few ways that we’re proud we’re making a difference:

  • Our herbs are grown organically and harvested from our own garden beds

  • We proudly use waxed paper straws to reduce the amount of straws going in to landfill

  • Cafes generate food waste, but we recycle ours and turn it into fertile compost and worm juice, via a worm farm on-site, which we distribute over our lovely gardens

  • Fresh, cooled table water always supplied free

  • We’re reusable cup friendly! In-fact, we encourage it - by offering a 50c discount off your coffee if you bring our own cup.

Heart Foundation Walk

The Heart Foundation Walk begins from our garden fence and takes a slow paced walk around the Lagoon visiting historical sites of the area including a boiler used to pump water to Caboolture’s first train line and the Friends of Lagoon Creek Environmental Conversation Program.

The walk leaves weekly (weather permitting), on Thursdays, at 9:15am. It is a slow paced walk, which is both dog and pram friendly, which takes around 45 – 60 minutes.
